Hello again,
I am so sorry I have been absent for a while already but I have had a stressful few weeks both at university and in my personal life. But today I am going to talk to you about everything I have learnt about being at university so far, I am currently finishing my first year studying Marketing in Birmingham.
Stress is real - The amount of times I have heard people say the first year is easy, and it "doesn't count". Well it may be easier in some aspects, but gosh it can be so stressful I currently have two deadlines and an exam all within a week of each other. I knew what stress what before university, but uni stress is on another level.
Adulting is not fun - Sometimes I forget that being at uni means having to look after myself, and actually be a responsible adult. Well, when it comes to money, rent and everything else trust me adulting is not a fun responsibility.
Never take baths for granted - The one thing I have missed whilst been at uni is baths, every time I go home I ensure I have a bath every day I am there and always with a lash bath bomb. Also, I miss roast dinners so much, so every time I am home baths and roast's are a must!
You forget you're at university a lot of the time! - Okay, the amount of times I have said to someone "I forget I am actually at university" is unreal, I still have to pinch myself that I am at university and living in a city away from home it's so surreal, I don't think it will ever set in even at my graduation!
Don't be afraid to ask for help - This is one thing I have never been scared of, but especially at university, you can't afford to be afraid to ask for help or advice. I have gone to my lecturers multiple times asking for help regarding assignments, and generic things.
Preparation is key - Preparing and organising your work and your life, in general, is vital! This way you can ensure you give yourself enough time to do everything you need to do, but it means you don't stress as much.
You learn a lot about yourself - This sounds so cheesy but it's so true, you learn so much about yourself especially meeting new people, studying and fending for yourself. You grow a lot as a person, both personally and as a student.
Washing up is so tedious - Cooking a big meal is all well and good until you see the amount you have to wash up! There is nothing I hate more than having to wash up multiple times a day.
Networking is essential - When I was doing some work for our universities marketing agency, it dawned on me how important networking is. Through this one experience, I gained so many new contacts which will come in so handy in life especially once graduating. Also, if you don't already have Linkedin it's a paramount tool to have, especially when you're at university.
University is so much fun! - Of course, everyone would always tell me how much fun university is going to be, but I never quite believed it to a certain degree. Trust me, I have never had so much fun in my life before and it's only been 7 months roughly. So have fun at university and enjoy it while it lasts, I can't believe I am done with my first year so soon!
